I create and sell "paper mosaics". Each mosaic has the look of a painting but is actually made entirely from small bits of paper! There is NO PAINT used in creating the image.
I made my first paper mosaic in the 1970s while an art student at Indiana University. I was intrigued by the "pointillist" works of Georges Seurat who used small dots of paint to create images. I decided to revise his method using small bits of magazine paper instead of paint. I was happy with the result but, being young and easily distracted, the mosaic was tucked away in my art portfolio... where it waited patiently to be rediscovered in 2004. Et voila! I am once again happily creating these unique images. I hand cut or tear small bits of color from magazine pages and apply them, one piece at a time, to watercolor paper. In essence, I am "painting with paper". Each mosaic is a unique work of art! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. |
